What materials can work wonders for waterproofing wooden roofs?

Company News   02 Sep,2026

In building waterproofing, roof waterproofing falls into various categories. Classified by roof form, there are flat roofs, sloped roofs, special‑shaped roofs and so on. Different roof forms and materials call for different waterproofing materials. Due to the properties of wood, wooden sloped roofs impose unique requirements on waterproofing materials. Selected materials shall feature good adhesion to wood, excellent weather resistance and matched expansion coefficients.

Today we will introduce a waterproofing material suitable for wooden sloped roofs — the "Ludu" EPDM self‑adhesive waterproof membrane. So what exactly is this material?

Self‑adhesive EPDM rubber waterproof membrane is a sheet film produced by mixing EPDM rubber with various fillers and additives through internal mixing, sheeting, extrusion and other processes, which is further combined with a self‑adhesive film and an anti‑adhesive release film to form the finished waterproof membrane.

What special capabilities does it possess to deliver transformative waterproofing performance for wooden roofs?

The "Ludu" EPDM self‑adhesive waterproof membrane combines the high reliability of EPDM waterproof membranes and the construction performance of self‑adhesive rubber waterproof membranes. It boasts advantages including weather resistance, aging resistance, high tensile strength and high elongation. The membrane has a wide application temperature range (long‑term serviceable at ‑40℃ to +80℃), making it a high‑performance waterproof membrane. Its self‑adhesive layer resists debonding and blistering, features a "self‑locking water" function and can penetrate pores in the base substrate. The product offers great durability and easy installation. Cold application is available with no glue brushing or glue waiting required, and it is environmentally friendly and pollution‑free.

Thanks to these outstanding properties, it delivers excellent performance in waterproofing and anti‑seepage for roofs of industrial and civil buildings, underground structures, tunnels, plazas and other municipal projects, as well as in waterproofing, anti‑seepage and anti‑corrosion for pipelines, wooden structures and metal structures. Lastly, let’s look at its simple step‑by‑step installation procedure!

Construction Steps:

1. Grind down protrusions on the base substrate to ensure it is dry and flat;

2. Peel off the release film of the membrane and lay the membrane;

3. Expel air trapped between the membrane and the base substrate;

4. Treat overlapping seams (the overlap width shall be no less than 10 cm);

5. Carry out edge finishing with metal pressure strips;

6. Construction completed.
